Nicholas is one of the founding partners of the firm and is head of our Corporate and Finance practice. He has many years of advising businesses in Poland, particularly in relation to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, finance, real estate and privatization acting for a wide variety of clients from multi-nationals to entrepreneurs. Whether assisting a new investor to take its first steps into the Polish market or working on cross border transactions, Nicholas is known for his practical commercial advice delivered with clarity and humour.

Prior to establishing his own law firm which was a predecessor to Olejniczak & Richardson, Nicholas was a partner with Norton Rose having joined that firm as a partner to establish its Warsaw office. Nicholas is a graduate of Oxford University, where he studied law. He trained at Lovells and following qualification as a solicitor, worked at Slaughter and May in the City before coming to Poland in 1994 where he was a partner with Baker & McKenzie.

Nicholas has served as non-executive chairman of two public companies traded on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, and also served on the boards of a number of companies in Poland, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Nicholas is member of The Law Society of England and Wales, is a registered foreign lawyer at the Polish Bar of Legal advisers and is a member of The Institute of Directors in London. Nicholas is member of the board of directors and honorary secretary of the British Polish Chamber of Commerce in Poland.

Barbara is one of the founding partners of the firm and is head of the Real estate and Construction practise. She is a seasoned transactional lawyer with a wealth of international experience, particularly involving real property transactions in Central Europe. She has negotiated and documented numerous acquisitions, developments, leases, sales and project finance transactions for international institutional investors, property funds, developers and end users in the region. She's known for her construction experience, having advised, negotiated and documented some of the largest construction contracts for power plants and large commercial projects in Poland. She has also participated in organizing investment funds and several initial public offerings of securities in Poland.

Prior to being in private practice, she practiced with Weil, Gotshal & Manges in their Warsaw office for three years. She managed and supervised a team of international lawyers from the Prague and Budapest offices on a number of cross border property transactions representing international institutional investors and property funds. From 1995-2000, she worked with CMS Cameron McKenna focusing on property transactions, negotiating and documenting large commercial leases, project finance and security arrangements. Prior to joining then McKenna & Co, Barbara was a lawyer with a law firm in the United States, focusing on corporate and commercial matters.

Barbara received her license to practice law in 1993 in the United States. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School, where she was an editor of The John Marshall Law Review, with an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. She was awarded a U.S. State Department Professional Development Fellowship to review Polish land and mortgage registry laws and reprivatisation claims in Poland. She has studied at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw.
